Jerry Brown (D), Attorney General (2007-2010), Mayor, Oakland, CA (1999-2007)

Brown was elected governor in 1974 and reelected in 1978 by more than one million votes. Brown appointed more women, Asians, Latinos and African-Americans to high government positions than any other chief executive. He also created the nation's first Wellness Commission, the Office of Appropriate Technology, the Native American Heritage Preservation Commission, and the California Commission on Industrial Innovation.

Steve Poizner (R), Insurance Commissioner (2007-2010)

A highly successful entrepreneur, Steve Poizner founded two successful technology companies in Silicon Valley. In 2006, Poizner became one of only two Republicans elected statewide when he defeated Democratic Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante in the race for insurance commissioner.

Rocky Delgadillo (D), City Attorney, Los Angeles (2001-2009)

Rocky Delgadillo's two terms as Los Angeles City attorney show him to be an energetic, imaginative legal official who used his office to help the people he represented. Delgadillo became the highest ranking Latino to win citywide office in more than 100 years when he was elected Los Angeles City attorney in June 2001.

Kamala Harris (D), District Attorney, San Francisco (2004-2010)

In December 2003, Kamala Harris was elected as the first woman District Attorney in San Francisco's history, and the first African American woman and South Asian American woman in California to hold the office. She was overwhelmingly reelected to a second term in November 2007.
